The Studio

Founded in 2021, Atelier Giorgio creates immersive residential and hospitality spaces where people feel genuinely welcome and at ease. The studio’s philosophy goes beyond aesthetics — focusing on belonging, wellbeing, and cultural storytelling. Blending Mediterranean influence with South African context, Atelier Giorgio delivers warm, sophisticated interiors rooted in sustainability, timeless materials, and collaboration with local artisans.

Founder Giorgio Tatsakis, born in Johannesburg with formative years in Greece, established the studio in his early twenties after completing his BA in Interior Design at Greenside Design Centre. His breakthrough project, Ethos Restaurant in Rosebank, earned International Restaurant of the Year (2022) and was shortlisted among the top four globally at the International Hotel & Property Awards in Capri. He was recognised as one of SCAPE Magazine’s Faces of the Future in 2022 and, most recently, has been listed in SCAPE’s 2026 Top 100 Architects and Designers Shaping the Industry.

Beyond Atelier Giorgio, he co-founded Clay by MG, supporting local craft and sustainable production, and launched Société by Giorgio, a curated homeware and furniture collection that makes his design ethos accessible to a wider audience. Across projects and ventures alike, Giorgio continues to elevate South African design internationally — crafting spaces that are not only visually striking, but deeply felt.R
